Afrobeats superstar Davido has expressed outrage over a controversial statement allegedly made by Senator Francis Fadahunsi, in which he appeared to call on supporters to attack members of the Accord Party.
In a video shared online by Achso, Fadahunsi was allegedly heard making inflammatory remarks about Accord Party members, reportedly telling supporters to kill them. He also stated that Accord members would not be allowed to vote during the election, even if they arrived with valid voter’s cards.
The senator was quoted as saying:
“From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too.
This is a Federal Government election. On election day, even if they come with a voter’s card, we won’t allow them to vote.”
The remarks have generated concern over the potential for political violence and intimidation ahead of the election.
Reacting to the video, Davido expressed disappointment that a serving senator could allegedly make comments encouraging attacks and further division among Nigerians.
The singer questioned the appropriateness of such rhetoric from a public office holder, particularly at a time when political tensions can easily escalate into violence.
Davido’s reaction has added to the growing attention surrounding the alleged statement, with the controversy highlighting concerns about political intolerance, electoral violence and the responsibility of public officials to promote peace and democratic participation.
