Veteran Nollywood actor Sunday Afolabi has opened up about the financial difficulties he has faced in recent years, revealing that he took up several jobs, including commercial bus driving, to support himself.
Speaking on Talk to B Show, Afolabi explained that relocating to Badagry affected his acting career because the distance made it difficult for him to regularly travel to central Lagos, where many of his acting jobs and industry activities take place.
According to the actor, his financial situation eventually forced him to sell his car and explore other means of making a living. He revealed that he worked as a motorcycle rider and also ventured into several other occupations, including tailoring, solar installation, photography and minibus driving.
Afolabi stressed that he is willing to engage in any legitimate work rather than depend on begging or go hungry. His comments highlighted the financial challenges that some veteran actors face after years in the entertainment industry.
The actor also made an appeal for assistance, particularly accommodation closer to Lagos and a reliable vehicle that he could use for Uber services. He explained that having access to both would reduce the challenges of transportation and help him become more available for acting opportunities.
Afolabi’s revelation has drawn attention to the struggles faced by some Nollywood veterans, many of whom continue to seek alternative sources of income when acting opportunities become limited.
