Bayern Munich and Germany star Jamal Musiala has revealed that he has been diagnosed with brief, temporary and treatable absence seizures following two alarming incidents in which he collapsed during matches within four days.
The 23-year-old suffered the latest episode during Bayern’s friendly against FC Heidenheim on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, collapsing just minutes after coming on as a substitute. The incident came only days after a similar episode during Bayern’s friendly against RB Leipzig.
Following the latest incident, Musiala took to Instagram to reassure fans who had become concerned about his health. He explained that doctors had diagnosed him with temporary absence episodes linked to a neurological dysfunction.
Despite how frightening the incidents may have appeared, Musiala stressed that he is doing well and receiving specialist medical care. He said there is no additional health risk and that he remains optimistic about his recovery.
The Bayern winger also revealed that he has been cleared by neurological specialists to continue playing football. According to Musiala, it was his personal decision to confront the condition while continuing to live normally and pursue his passion for the game.
He expressed gratitude to Bayern Munich, his personal support network, medical experts and fans for standing by him during the difficult period.
Musiala also asked the public to respect his privacy, saying he wants to discuss the matter only with his closest circle, his club and medical specialists.
The diagnosis has provided an explanation for the two recent collapses and has eased concerns about a potentially serious long-term health problem. Musiala remains determined to continue his football career while managing the condition under medical supervision.
