"I Am Disappointed in Her" — Delta Governor’s Aide Criticizes Nollywood Star Ini Edo for Attending Ghana Party One Day After Her Father’s Burial

Ossai Ovie Success, a media aide to the Governor of Delta State, has expressed strong disappointment in Nollywood actress Ini Edo for attending a party in Ghana just hours after her father’s burial.

It was reported in February that Ini Edo lost her father, Elder Edo Jonathan Ekim. On Friday, she and her siblings laid him to rest in their hometown in Akwa Ibom. The burial ceremony was attended by several celebrities, including Rita Dominic, Ruth Kadiri, Nancy Isime, Lilian Afegbai, Uche Jombo, Real Warri Pikin, Desmond Elliot, and IK Ogbonna.

However, less than 24 hours after the funeral, Ini Edo was seen in Accra, Ghana, celebrating the 40th birthday of a well-known Ghanaian billionaire businessman. She was joined at the party by fellow Nollywood stars Rita Dominic and Ramsey Nouah.

Videos from the lavish birthday party quickly spread on social media, sparking outrage from fans and critics who described her actions as insensitive.

Adding his voice to the backlash, Ossai Ovie Success took to his Facebook page to condemn Ini Edo’s actions. He described her trip as disrespectful and not the right way to mourn a loved one.

In his words:

“I am disappointed in Ini Edo for travelling to Ghana for a birthday party just 5 hours after her father’s burial ceremony. This is not a suitable way to mourn. It’s not about money — it’s about respect and spending time with family during such a difficult moment. Ini Edo was emotional at the burial yesterday, but less than 24 hours later, she’s already in Ghana celebrating. This action is insensitive, disappointing, and disrespectful to her family.”

While some fans agreed with Ossai, calling for celebrities to show more respect during mourning, others argued that everyone grieves differently and that no one should judge how she chooses to move forward.
