“This Situation Has Crossed a Line” – Actor Damola Olatunji Reacts as Apostle Chibuzor Seeks a Husband for His Autistic Daughter

Nollywood actor Damola Olatunji has reacted to a controversial move by clergyman Apostle Chibuzor, who recently announced plans to marry off his adopted autistic daughter.

The founder of the Omega Power Ministry (OPM) shared the update on Facebook, introducing his 21-year-old daughter, Chiemeka Chibuzor. He explained that although she has autism, she can speak and hear clearly.

In his statement, the clergyman wrote:

“Breaking News….

I am giving out another of my adopted daughters for marriage.

Her name is Chiemeka Chibuzor.

She has autism.

She is 21 years old.

She can talk and can hear well.

The man who must marry her must be a young man, not old and not disabled in any form.

Lifetime salary, no foreign vacation.

Free house forever.

House built in the name of both of you.

Regular unplanned supervision visits by OPM staff to be sure she is not maltreated.

And many other hidden benefits.”

The announcement has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the arrangement and its implications.

Reacting, Damola Olatunji criticised the move, stating that it raises serious ethical concerns. In his response, he emphasised that marriage should be based on informed consent and personal choice.

According to him:

“This has crossed a line and should be addressed seriously. Marriage is not something to arrange like this, it requires full understanding and consent from both parties involved. At 21, many young people are still figuring out their lives and may not be ready for such commitments without influence.

Instead of this, there should be a proper care system in place. Vulnerable individuals deserve dignity, protection, and structured support. There are more ethical and effective ways to support people living with autism.”

The development continues to generate debate across social media, with many calling for more sensitivity and better systems to support individuals with special needs.
