Wike Visits Governor Fubara in Port Harcourt Amid Ongoing Reconciliation Talks

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has visited Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at his private residence in Port Harcourt as efforts to strengthen reconciliation between the two political camps continue.

Wike visited Fubara on Sunday alongside members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and the chairmen of the state’s 23 local government areas.

The visit came weeks after Wike led members of the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 general election, Kingsley Chinda, to meet with Governor Fubara.

Sunday’s meeting was significant as it marked the first time Wike had visited Fubara at his private residence in Port Harcourt.

The development is being viewed as part of ongoing efforts to consolidate the peace and reconciliation process between Wike and Fubara after months of political tension in the state.

Wike’s delegation included Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker Martin Amaewhule, other lawmakers and the chairmen of the 23 local government areas. Chinda, who is the APC’s standard-bearer for the 2027 election in Rivers State, was also present.

Although details of the private meeting were not made public, sources said the discussions focused on building on previous engagements, strengthening reconciliation efforts and finding ways to accommodate Fubara’s loyalists within the state’s emerging political structure.

The latest meeting suggests that discussions between the two camps are continuing as political activities ahead of the 2027 general election gather momentum.
