The All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to comments made by Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, over the visibility of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Obi had earlier questioned the whereabouts of the President, raising concerns about his public presence amid Nigeria’s challenges. In response, the APC dismissed the claims, insisting that President Tinubu is neither missing nor absent from his official duties.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the Lagos State APC Spokesman, Seye Oladejo, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the party said the President remains fully committed to the business of governance, both within Nigeria and abroad.
Oladejo urged political actors to focus on serious national issues rather than appearances, stressing that governance should not be judged by how often a leader is seen in public or in the media.
According to him, President Tinubu is actively involved in key areas of leadership, including policy coordination, security oversight, diplomatic engagements, and economic reforms.
He added that effective governance is measured by the quality of decisions made, the policies implemented, and the positive outcomes achieved in the interest of the nation, not by constant public visibility.
The APC’s response comes amid ongoing political debates sparked by Obi’s comments on the President’s presence and leadership style.
